8/19/09: Northwest Regional Director Ken Higgins Passes Away

Ken Higgins

Ken Higgins who was a personal friend for many years passed away from a Heart Attack on 19 August 2009. For those who knew Ken, this is a very sad day and 3-Cushion Billiards has lost a Friend to all who knew him and a Loyal Supporter of 3-Cushion as a Sport in America.

Ken played in almost all of the USBA sponsored tournaments in the Northwestern USA, including the USBA Nationals events during the last 10 years. Ken also worked at many events as a Referee and score keeper when his assistance was needed. Ken was also involved in some of the Carom Corner events that brought World Champion Players to the USA for Competition at the Tacoma Elks Lodge.

Apparently Ken was already hospitalized when he suffered the Massive Heart Attack that took him from us. Everyone will have their own favorite memories of Ken as he was one of the most genuine people I have ever met in my life. To my knowledge Ken was well-liked by everyone that ever met him and his passing will truly be a great loss for many and the entire sport!!!!!!

Rest in Peace, Ken

-Harry Green

We are going to miss one of the great supporters of 3-cushion billiards in not only the Northwest but Nationally. Everyone will have their own favorite memories of Ken as he was a genuine enjoyable character in the billiard world.

The Memorial will be on Wednesday 2 PM August 26, 2009, at  the Tacoma Elks Lodge.  It will also be announced in our local paper, The Tacoma News Tribune. The family has asked me to lead the service.  If you have something you would like to say and don't want to do it in person please send your thoughts to Darrel at dstutesman@msn.com. Lets have a great turn out for a Super Person and Friend!!!!
